I am SO EXCITED for this link up and even more thankful that Johannah decided to host this link up with me!! We love trying new recipes at our house!! However, some times I feel I get into a "rut" and cook the same thing over and over! That is why I am so excited for this link up! I will have it to look up new recipes and give them a try!
However today I am sharing an "old faithful" recipe "Homemade Lasagna"! It is a great recipe to cook ahead of time a freeze! My sister had arm surgery a few weeks ago and I threw this together and took as a meal to her family!
I will tell you that I am NOT a huge lasagna fan! BUT my friend Julie (who I just sent the weekend at the lake with- you can read our weekend recap here) had us girls over for dinner one night and I was SOLD on lasagna! It was HEAVENLY! I knew she had to share her recipe with me right then and there!! SO SHE DID!! and now I am going to share it with you amazing ladies!~~
Here is what you will need:
1lb of lean ground beef
1 1/2 jars of sauce( I use the store brand traditional sauce)
1 clove of garlic
1 teaspoon of friend oregano
salt and pepper to taste
1 box of lasagna noodles( again I use the store brand)
16 oz of ricotta cheese
4 eggs
4 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
preheat your oven to 350 degrees!
Salute your chopped up garlic, oregano, a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper(to taste)
then add your ground beef and brown it
once the ground beef is brown add your sauce
keep on low heat
in a separate bowl mix up eggs, 2 cups of mozzarella cheese and ricotta cheese with a sprinkle of salt and pepper!
In a 13x9 pan layer, UNCOOKED noodles , spread the meat mixture on top of the noodles, then add a layer of the cheese mixture! THEN, repeat the process- noodles, meat mixture, cheese mixture....then top with the cheddar cheese! I then place my lasagna pan on a cookie sheet in case it bubbles over in the oven!
I bake for about 45 minutes to an hour on 350 degrees!
first layer
second and third layer
meat and cheese layer
final layer with the cheddar cheese on top!
After the lasagna has come out of the oven...oh my goodness! It is heavenly!!
My sister's family enjoyed the lasagna!!
I can't wait to see what you guys share for the link up today!!
xoxo, Heather
